Some More of My Favorite Gear

Dunlop John Petrucci Flow Picks 2.0mm

I love these picks! For years I used Dunlop Jazz III’s exclusively (which are also awesome), until I tried these a while back on my acoustic. I love the tone and smooth attack I get… and they just last way longer for me than the smaller picks.

The Best Acoustic Strings EVER?

I’ve been using the Elixir Phosphor Bronze strings on my Taylor Guitars for a while now. I’ve tried just about every other brand out there and always go back to these. No matter what gauge you play, these strings last longer, and retain a better quality of tone than any strings out there.

MXR 20ft. Guitar Cable

Funny thing, while I was looking up my picks and strings for you, I came across this incredible deal. I just picked up a few more myself too. 20ft, high quality MXR cable with the right-angle jacks for 20 bucks? Yes, Please!

Boss Loopers

I’ve been using loopers in my solo acoustic and duo gigs for years. I’ve had most of the big name brands, but only the BOSS LOOPERS seem to be able to handle my heavy gig load and extreme temperatures here in Florida. I also like to use them for just general guitar practice.

I use the Boss FS-5U as a stop and delete button separate from the record/loop function of the RC-1 pedal.

Have a Great Thanksgiving (if you're in the US), and Until Next Time!,

Circle of Keys

Guitar Newsletter January 30th, 2025 Hey there Reader, Recently I had a great question from a reader about other ways to use the Circle of Keys to find useful information besides just the notes in a particular Major scale or Key. Like, what about the chords? A great way to find all of the Major Chords in a Key is to look at the adjacent keys on either side of the one you want to play IN. For example, in the Key of C Major you see F before and G after, so those 3 chords will be Major type...

Tetrachords Mini-Lesson

Guitar Newsletter January 18th, 2025 Hello Reader!, I hope you enjoyed the free Triads book. I had over 2000 downloads this past week! If you missed it, you can still grab it anytime. Here's a little mini-lesson to get you through the weekend. Steve, an email reader had a great question:"What happens if you add the next (diatonic) 3rd to the existing triads in the book?" Answer:You get a Tetrachord built on each scale tone like this. πŸ’‘A tetrachord is a musical pattern of four notes that are...

Guitar Triads Free PDF eBook

Guitar Newsletter January 12th, 2025 Hey Reader!, I don't know about you, but when I first learned guitar chords, I found the hardest part was where to find useful shapes on the neck past the open position. For example: Where else can I play a D minor chord past the 3rd fret? Can I find 4 or more shapes quickly? What about the rest of the chords in a Key? I wrote this free 30 page book on Triads and how they fall across the fretboard. If you remember last month I had a request from an email...
