Monday Picking Exercises

Monday Picking!

Hey there Reader,

Bach walked 250 miles. You only have to walk to the couch. ๐ŸŽธ

In the fall of 1705, Bach was 20 years old working as an organist in Arnstadt. He wanted hear a Dietrich Buxtehude organ perfomance. So he asked for 4 weeks off and walked 250 miles on foot!

I think about that story whenever I catch myself negotiating with a practice session. Bach didn't have a metronome app, a tab site, or a guitar sitting three feet from his chair. He had a road and a reason to walk it.

So let's take that walk together. 10 minutes, one exercise.

Warm-ups are good for mini-practice sessions when you don't have a lot of time or don't want to fatigue yourself too much before a gig, workout etc.. Check out this Bach piece I've converted into TAB and a picking exercise: (Click to get full PDF)

As always if you need help or have any questions, feel free to hit reply and ask away!

Guitar Newsletter August Hello, Reader, Monday we talked about the 3 variations of a Pentatonic scale:1) minor2) Major3) BluesJosh one of my readers replied with a great question that I didn't fully cover in that lesson:Question: "why is it minor or major depending on where you start the shape?" Pentatonic Scale Shapes for Guitar

Guitar Newsletter August Hello, Reader, I've always told my guitar students that there are many ways to learn technique and music theory. You should never get all of your info from just one source and keep an open mind to learning different ideas from different players... but... ..what I can't stand is when I see online creators and so-called guitar gurus making simple concepts soooo much harder and more time consuming. As a practicing musician TIME is our most valuable commodity... with that...
